Role Overview
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician I to join our growing team in support of our federal program.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to impactful, mission-critical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing of pavement materials including concrete, aggregates, asphalt, and other construction materials in accordance with approved test procedures and applicable standards.
- Prepare, handle, label, store, and dispose of material samples while maintaining sample integrity and traceability.
- Conduct concrete, aggregate, and construction materials testing activities supporting research projects and pavement performance evaluations.
- Perform field sampling and testing activities associated with airport pavement construction support.
- Operate laboratory equipment and perform routine inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance activities.
- Record test results, observations, equipment readings, and deviations from standard procedures.
- Support laboratory quality control activities and maintain accurate testing documentation.
- Assist with preparation of test reports, data packages, and laboratory documentation.
- Follow laboratory health and safety procedures, including job hazard analyses and safe equipment operation.
- Support laboratory accreditation activities by maintaining required documentation and following approved test methods.
- Provide support and expertise in assigned domain.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions.
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
- Special projects as needed.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures for concrete, aggregate, asphalt, and construction materials.
- Ability to perform standardized materials testing in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and other applicable standards.
- Ability to operate laboratory testing equipment and maintain accurate testing records.
- Ability to collect, document, and manage laboratory test data.
- Ability to identify testing issues, equipment problems, and deviations from procedures.
- Ability to follow laboratory safety procedures and quality control requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Experience & Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant experience performing construction materials testing, laboratory testing, or field-testing activities.
- Experience with concrete, aggregate, asphalt, soils, or pavement materials testing.
- Experience following ASTM, AASHTO, or similar testing standards.
- Experience preparing laboratory documentation, test records, and reports.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, client-focused environments
- Experience supporting federal programs preferred
Education
- Position requires a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Materials Science, or related field, with 5 years of experience; OR an MS/MA Degree in a related field with 3 years of experience.
- Certs Required:
- ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician, Level 1
- ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician, Grade 1
- NICET Construction Materials Testing – Concrete, Level 1
Work Location and Schedule
- Egg Harbor, New Jersey
- Monday – Friday 8AM – 5:30PM EST
- Work schedules and arrangements may be adjusted based on client and program needs

Customer / Contract
Compensation
- The likely salary range or Hourly rate for this position is $60,000–$75,000.
Salary range reflects our commitment to pay equity and transparency. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, certifications, labor qualifications, geographic location and contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
